Coming to the Australian Law Librarians’ Association Conference in Brisbane next month?

Why not take advantage of one of the pre-conference workshops or book for the library tours that will run on Wednesday 12 September 2012?

Law for non-lawyers : an introduction to law and legal systems

Presented by Queensland Public Interest Law Clearing House (QPILCH), this course is aimed at new law librarians and others who want to gain a better understanding of the key components of the legal system.

Date: Wednesday 12 September 2012
Time: 10am – 1pm
Venue: LPC Room 3.07, Griffith University Legal Practice Centre, Griffith Graduate Centre, South Bank
Cost: $55 (ALLA members) and $70 (non-ALLA members) includes morning tea.
Proceeds will be used by QPILCH to support its mental health legal services.

10+ tips for finding business information

Presented by Carine Research, this workshop is designed for new and experienced informational professionals and is full of practical tips for finding business information.

Date: Wednesday 12 September 2012
Time: 9.15am – 12.30pm (Registration at 9am)
Venue: Level 2, Law Society House, 179 Ann Street, Brisbane
Cost: $290 for ALLA2012 delegates

Free tours of Brisbane law libraries, including the Minter Ellison Library (10am), the University of Queensland Walter Harrison Law Library (11.30am), the new Supreme Court of Queensland Library and the Sir Harry Gibbs Legal Heritage Centre (10am and 2pm). Numbers are limited and booking is essential.
