Travel and Transport

ALLA 2012 is on at The Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC) on Grey Street. BCEC is part of Brisbane’s popular South Bank precinct on the Brisbane River opposite the city of Brisbane. The conference venue is an easy walk across the Victoria bridge from the city, or a short ferry, bus, train or cycle journey Try something different and catch a green cab (pedicab) to the conference or book one for a tour of the river


Brisbane’s International and Domestic Airports are located approximately 20km from the city. Delegates can get to Brisbane by taxi, hire car, Con-x-ion Airport Transfers or the Airtrain

Airtrains run every 15 minutes in peak hours, and every 30 minutes outside of these hours. Refer to the Airtrain timetable at for hours of operation.

The Gold Coast airport (Coolangatta) is located approximately 100 km from Brisbane. Surfside Bus route 761 connects the airport and Robina Train Station from where you can catch a train to Brisbane.

Getting around Brisbane

Brisbane has an integrated transport ticketing system, TransLink, for ferries, trains and buses Fares paid with a TransLink “go card” are 30% cheaper than tickets purchased as you go. You can buy a go card at newsagents and 7-Eleven stores or buy online and receive it in the mail so you can use it from the airport

Getting to the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre

Buses: disembark at the Cultural Centre Busway – an easy 5 minute walk from BCEC
Car: BCEC has undercover car park for 1500 vehicles. See details and prices at
Ferry: disembark at SouthBank 2 terminal
Taxis: The closest designated taxi rank is in Merivale Street at the BCEC main entrance. The taxi drop off area is located at the Grey Street entrance.
Trains: detrain at South Brisbane Train Station located adjacent to BCEC. Airtrains all stop at this station.
